Professor Julian M. Pleasants received his PhD. from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1971, his M.A. from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1962, and his B.A. from Davidson College in 1960. He joined the faculty at the University of Florida in 1969.

Professor Pleasants is also the Director of the Proctor Oral History Program (link). He has published five books, edited one and has had numerous articles published. He has recently taught U.S. Since 1877 (AMH 2020), U.S. Since 1945 (AMH 4270), the research seminar America’s Wars Since 1941 (AMH 3930), and U.S. from WWI to WWII. Professor Pleasants is retiring in December 2007.
