Associate Professor Howard Louthan received his Ph.D. in 1994 in early modern European history from Princeton University, his M.A. in 1986 from Emory University, and his B.A. in 1986 from Emory University. He joined the University of Florida Department of History in 2001 after teaching at the University of Notre Dame. He has published John Comenius: The Labyrinth of the World (Paulist Press, 1998), The Quest for Compromise (Cambridge, 1997), and Conciliation and Confession: The Struggle for Unity in the Age of Reform (Notre Dame University Press, 2004). Professor Louthan recently taught the courses "Reformation Europe" and "Violence and Society in Premodern Europe."
